Under the EU Cross Border Healthcare Directive you can access treatment in any EU/EEA State and claim reimbursement from the HSE

Trasna works with a variety of public and private healthcare providers. Different countries have different healthcare systems so what is public and what is private differs from Country to Country.
If you are ordinarily resident in Ireland you are entitled to Public Healthcare and can use the Cross Border Directive as an Irish patient.
You are entitled to use Cross Border Healthcare whether or not you have a medical card.
You are entitled to use Cross Border Healthcare whether or not you have Private Insurance.

There are no waiting times in our hospitals so as soon as you have your case ready you can book in your treatment.
Trasna will bring you through your treatment options and then will arrange for your referral letter to be sent to the hospital of your choice.
You do not need to get Prior authorisation before travelling. The HSE do have a process for this but it is no guarantee of payment.
You will need to get referred by your GP to the hospital where you are going to be treated.
The HSE publish their list of reimbursement rates and Trasna will be able to tell you how much you can claim in reimbursement for your specific treatment.
Only medical costs are reimbursed by the HSE so any travel and accommodation expenses are not reimbursed.

The reimbursement rate is the maximum that the HSE will pay for that treatment. So if your treatment is more than the reimbursement rate you will only be paid the reimbursement rate.
Trasna can arrange any treatment which is available in its provider network. Reimbursement from the HSE is only available for those treatments available in the public system.

All Hospitals are accredited and monitored by their local state bodies. Trasna only works with healthcare providers who can deliver safe, quality care.
All of our hospitals are catered to International patients, have international patients teams on the ground and will deliver the treatment through English.
After your treatment you will be back under the care of the Doctor who referred you and all your medical records will be returned to your referring Doctor.
In the event that something goes wrong while you are in the hospital you will be treated while you are there. If something should go wrong once you have returned home you are in the same position as you would be if you had the treatment here. Depending on the issue you can choose to return to the hospital where you were treated or seek treatment locally depending on the urgency of the issue.
While not a requirement, we would always advise patients to take out travel insurance for their trip.
This will depend on the treatment which you have.
For some Orthopaedic procedures rehabilitation is included in the price. This will depend on the treatment you are having and the hospital where you chose to be treated.
Yes, your Trasna Personal Care Manager will guide you through the process and you will also have the International Patients team in the hospital available to you
